Beyond the ordinary

This is where the journey begins. 

Four and a half years ago I decided to train as a Foot Health Care Practitioner. During my training I met a homeless gentleman who attended for treatment with his support worker. I will never forget the sight and smell of his shoes, socks and feet which fuelled my desire to work with the homeless community.

 I have since also qualified to provide ear cleaning services.

My passion has developed to be able to provide foot and ear care to the homeless at their point of need. The homeless are often on their feet all the time, and their extremities are exposed to all weathers. Their inability to access personal hygiene services (showers) as well as limited access to NHS healthcare means that their feet are often severely neglected. Poor hygiene, poor footwear and insufficient protection offered by socks all contribute to severe foot issues.

Foot and ear care services are generally no longer freely accessible on the NHS and therefore I decided to provide a reduced rate to those on certain state benefits as well as free treatment for the homeless. I’ve been running my part time business successfully as “Feet for a King” for the last four and a half years.

In 2025 I bought a old motor home for this cause, which my mechanic has since resigned to the scrapheap. This year I have purchased a slightly newer vehicle which is at least road worthy. My aim is to take it to the homeless people across Birmingham and surrounding areas, where these services are needed. Homeless people don’t have the ability or funds to commute to a single place for treatment, so I know that a mobile clinic is the only way they can access the care they desperately need.

Thank you to all those who have thus far supported this long awaited project. I hope to raise ongoing funds to provide refreshments, socks, underwear, hats and gloves. In addition, the vehicle will need fuel and maintenance to keep The Toe Truck on the move.
